Welcome to Apple® Media Image Disc Volume 5 – the third in a series of photo collections to use as a companion to Apple Media ToolKit. It's designed to simplify adding black-and-white and color photography to your customized ads, brochures, press releases, and presentations.
Volume 5 contains 102 digital images of Apple Computer products such as computers, displays, peripherals, printers, and software products.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
To use Apple Media Image Disc, you'll need:
•Any Apple Macintosh® or PowerBook® computer with a 68030, 68040, or PowerPC™ processor
•8 MB of RAM
•A CD-ROM drive
•System software 7.0 or later
•Macintosh CD Setup, version 3.1 or later
•QuickTime™ 1.6.1 extension
PREVIEWING IMAGES
Simply double-click the “Slide Show Vol. 5” icon to load the preview interface. The first image on the disc will appear in the preview window. You can preview the rest of the images by clicking the right or left arrow, using the arrow keys or scroll bar, or clicking on the play button to view the images in a slide show.
Each image is displayed with its identification number at the bottom of the preview window. Make a note of any images you might want to use. When you have finished previewing, you can copy them to your hard drive.

COPYING IMAGES TO THE HARD DRIVE
When you know which images you wish to use, open the “Images” folder. Here you'll find all the image files. Simply match the identification number you saw in the preview window to the file name in the “Images” folder. Drag it to your hard drive.
OPENING/PLACING IMAGES
Each image file you copy to the hard drive contains five resolutions that are appropriate for a variety of uses. Whenever you open or place an image file in an application, you will be asked which resolution size you wish to use. For general information on how to use these images, read “Using Photo CD Images” on this disc. For best results, consult your application manual or printing professional.

Resolutions available for each image are:
128 x 192 pixels
256 x 387 pixels
512 x 768 pixels
1,024 x 1,536 pixels
2,048 x 3,072 pixels
*NOTE*
•If your software can place or import a Photo CD image (usually at low-resolution), simply place it in your document. For best results, we suggest opening images in Apple PhotoFlash™ or Adobe™ Photoshop, saving them as TIFF images, and then placing them in your documents.
•Depending on how you use the images, you may need to convert the file to CMYK for printing. Consult your application manual or a printing professional for more information.
APPLE PHOTOFLASH 2.0 TRIAL VERSION
This disc contains a trial version of Apple PhotoFlash 2.0 software. Try it for yourself and see how easy working with photos can be. To install the trial version, double-click on the “PhotoFlash Trial Installer” icon in the “PhotoFlash Trial” folder and follow the on-screen instructions.
